At their regular Township meeting on May 26, the Boston Trustees congratulated Police Chief, Joe Varga, on his retirement. Memories were shared and tears were shed as Joe was presented with a plaque. Joe was surprised by many members of his family who were invited to the event. Lisa Petit, acting superintendent of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park as well as Acting Chief Ranger Ivan Kassovic presented Joe with a plaque and appropriately, a book on the history of Bourbon.
Joe began his career in police work in 1981 with the Reminderville Police Department. He was chief in Boston Heights from 1983 to 2012 before joining Peninsula in August 2013. The Trustees thanked Joe for all of his efforts on behalf of their residents.
