Valley Fire District is asking the voters of Boston Township and Peninsula Village to approve a 2.5–mill replacement levy on the November 2 general election. This is a five–year capital levy. The levy will cost the owners of a $100,000 home $87.50 per year. The replacement increase will cost approximately $22.00 per year for a $100,000 home. This will bring in approximately $30,000 in additional funds. The new collection will begin in January 2022.

In the past capital funds have been used to purchase replacement gear for firefighters, radio and communication upgrades, equipment for vehicles, vehicle repairs, electrostatic sprayers as well as maintenance on the buildings and site. Vehicle replacements since the last levy include a squad in 2017, a fire engine in 2019, and a tanker in 2022 (on order).
