Village Council met in person for the Regular Council Session October 11, 2021.
Council passed the September 13, 2021, Regular Council Meeting Minutes.
Council passed the motion to authorize the mayor to enter into an agreement between the Village and the Summit County Sheriff`s Office regarding the OVI Task Force for October 1, 2021 to September 30, 2022.
Moving to third reading next Council session will be Resolution No. 15–2021 A expressing the Village of Peninsula Mayor and Council`s displeasure with the Conservancy for the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and Cuyahoga Valley National Park`s collective efforts to acquire, own, and control the entirety of the former Brandywine Golf Course property.
Council passed Resolution No. 19–2021 A resolution granting
consent and approval to the Director of the Ohio Department of Transportation Authority to do the following on State Highways within the Village Corporate limits: (1) apply, maintain, and repair standard longitudinal pavement markings and erect regulatory warning signs; (2) remove snow and ice and use snow and ice control material; and (3) perform maintenance and/or repairs; and authorizing the mayor to enter into any agreement for the removal of snow and ice and use snow and ice control material and/or certain maintenance and/or repairs.
Mayor Schneider expressed his disappointment regarding the Conservancy`s complete lack of cooperation to work together with the Village on the sale of the golf course.
Mayor stated PayByPhone parking was instituted August 1, 2021. He noted resident awareness could have been improved if more public announcements were done. Mayor also stated no parking fee will occur on Election Day and major holidays.
Mayor stated Halloween Trick–or–Treating will be observed in the Village on Sunday, October 31, 2021 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM.
Monthly brush pick up will start again in the spring unless there is a major storm. Leaf pick–up starts on October 18 and ends December 10.
