BOSTON TOWNSHIP

The township minutes are posted on our website at www.bostontownship.org and outside the fiscal office at the Boston Township Hall. . Meetings are covered by the West Side Leader. Trustee meetings are the second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Zoning commission meets the second Tuesday of the month and the Board of Zoning Appeals meets the fourth Tuesday of the month.

Road Department: The Trustees voted to participate in the newly formed Summit County Service Department Response Network. This mutual aid-type agreement could provide for assistance in either staffing or equipment should a community have the need, such as after a natural disaster or some other impactful event. Currently many communities utilize mutual aid when necessary, but this agreement formalizes those instances. The agreement recognizes that no community is under any obligation to respond to a request for assistance and that communities can withdraw from the agreement at any time.

Peninsula Village Lease Agreement: The Trustees voted to extend the contract with Peninsula Village for their road department to rent space in the township`s garage. The contract was extended to March 31, 2022 in order for the village to have time to locate a new garage space. The Peninsula road garage was lost to a fire in January 2019.

Property Reappraisals: Residents who have questions about their new home values are encouraged to contact the Summit County Board of Revision where property owners can request a hearing to discuss the new valuations. A completed DTE-1 form (Complaint Against the Valuation of Real Property) must be received by the Board of Revision by March 31, 2021. For more information, call the Board of Revision at (330) 926-2559 or visit the Fiscal Officer`s website (https://fiscaloffice.summitoh.net/).

Get-Well Wishes: Speedy recovery wishes are extended to township solicitor Al Schrader as he recovers from surgery. Get well soon, Al!

LENT AT MOTHER OF SORROWS

Ash Wednesday, February 17, 2021 is a day of prayer and penance. A day when fasting and abstinence is observed. Fasting is to be observed by those ages 18 through 59. Fasting allows a person to eat one full meal. Two smaller meals may be taken, not to equal one full meal. Abstinence from meat is obligatory for all Catholics age 14 and older. Abstaining from meat on prescribed days is another way of doing penance. Lent is much more. It is a time of conversion, grace, and new direction. How can we make this happen? Fast from what we do not really need. Do more rather than less during these Lenten days. Consider daily Mass (perhaps virtually), celebrating the sacrament of penance, participating in our parish`s Lenten devotions (Eucharistic Holy Hour, Stations of the Cross). You might read the Bible, spiritual literature, the lives of the Saints, and pray the Rosary (with family and friends). Take more time for personal prayer. Participate in the Rice Bowl Lenten Project…sharing in order that others might have enough. Join our faith community, and nearly 14,000 Catholic communities across the United States, in a life-changing Lenten journey of encounter with CRS Rice Bowl. There is even a CRS Rice Bowl app that can be downloaded. Pray that these 40 days truly help us on our Lenten journey to the glory of Easter and new life in the Lord. One further thought: consider meditating daily as an additional Lenten help on the words used in imposition of ashes: "Remember you are dust, and to dust you shall return." "Repent and believe the Gospel." Blessings on our Lenten Journey 2021! (Times of services, link to our YouTube channel and more information visit: motherofsorrowspeninsula.org).
