PENINSULA COUNCIL
The Village of Peninsula Council met in regular session on March 13, 2017. Council discussed purchasing a new truck for the Street Department. The Mayor handed out two proposals which Council will review and consider at a later meeting. Council approved the 2017 Budget for the Village. Council also approved of the hiring of a full time Service Department Working Supervisor and a part time Administrative Assistant. If anyone is interested in either position, please contact the Village or send a resume to the Fiscal Officer. Further information can be obtained from the Village's website.
Dee Holody provided the following update on the Wastewater Initiative:
The Village is approximately eight weeks into working with Stantec Consulting to complete a Village Wastewater Preliminary Engineering Report (PER). Council approved
Dee Holody, Mary Booth and Bill Clifton to serve as the Village Core Team to work with Stantec during the project, with Dee Holody serving as Council Liaison. Stantec is in the process of conducting the engineering analysis of the sanitary collection and treatment options the Village asked the consultant to consider, plus other options recommended by Stantec. The treatment systems are being evaluated on four key criteria: 1)Odor, 2)Operations, 3)Footprint, and 4)Maintenance. Stantec is also assessing the bedrock formations and depth as they consider the sanitary collection options and placement of a treatment facility. By May, we are feeling confident that Stantec will have a good idea of what our options are for collection and treatment systems that will work for the Village, an idea of the capital costs associated with those options, and an estimated timeline for detailed engineering and construction. After this analysis has been completed and we have data, Stantec and the Village Core Team will begin our rounds of sharing the results with our residents, state and local regulators, and key Village stakeholders which include our business community and other public and non-profit organizations that contribute to or utilize the Village. Questions? Feel free to contact anyone of us on the Village Core Team. Dee Holody M: 216-346-8753, Mary Booth-H: 330-657-2244, Bill Clifton-H: 330-657-4032.
Dee Holody reported the following on the Sandstone Sidewalk Replacement:
Village representatives Dee Holody, Mary Booth, Karen Walters and Barb Gideon are continuing their efforts to work with ODOT Environmental and ODOT District 4, with the support of the State Historic Preservation Office, to replace and reinstall the twenty-one slabs of Peninsula sandstone sidewalk that was removed by ODOT during the Rt. 303 resurfacing project. We would like to use as many sandstones slabs as possible that are original to the Village, i.e. most likely from our Peninsula quarries. If you have any large slab stone sections that you are willing to part with please contact Mary Booth at 330-657-2244. We welcome donations of sandstone, but are prepared to discuss fair market reimbursement as well.
