PENINSULA VILLAGE COUNCIL

May Peninsula Village Council Meeting Items of Note:

Congratulations to Adam Shega, Corey Snyder and Jason Orahoske on their earning Eagle Scout status this year. The Village Council recognizes their commitment to citizenship and their community.

The Cemetery Board was present for an impromptu discussion of finances and their request for funds from the village. Councilman Schneider stated the Council would not put forth a motion on the matter until the Clerk Treasurer had an actual dollar amount from the County Fiscal Office on how much inside millage would be generated.

Council adopted a Resolution authorizing the Clerk Treasurer to apply for the SASWMA grant, half of which will go to Your Community News in support of their continued publication of recycling information. They also passed a resolution to accept the National Park grants for road work with the understanding that no work would be done in 2007 due to village financial constraints.

Thank you to Doug Anderson for his trips to Barberton to get the fence project finished. Although it will not be completed before Memorial Day as planned, there will be a black iron fence in place this summer. For now, the temporary safety barricades will stay up.

Solicitor Ed Muse reiterated to Council that under section 121.22C of the Sunshine Law, it is illegal to conduct village business by email. All village business must be conducted at a public meeting with proper notice to the public in advance. For residents who might not be aware, all meetings are posted at the Library, Post Office, Village Hall and Terry Lumber, as well as the Intermediate School on Bronson during the school year and at the Quarry during the summer months.
