PENINSULA VILLAGE COUNCIL

December Peninsula Village Council Meeting Items of Note:

Amy Anderson, who was present on behalf of the Township Trustees, thanked Mayor Kaplan and Council members Jay Pedone and Grover Miller for their work with the Township the last four years, stating that there was a sense of renewed cooperation between the entities that she, Randy and Jerry hoped would continue with the incoming mayor and council members.

Officer Matt Merrell, who started part time with the village police department in 2005, and became full time last December was removed from probationary status by resolution of Council.

Council passed a resolution approving the township police contract beginning January 1, 2008.

Glas Ornamental will be installing the fence on Rt. 303. The funds will come out of the State Road Fund.

Mr. Hunker reported that the village will end the year with approximately $60,000 carryover for next year. The Clerk-Treasurer informed Council this would be enough to make the three payrolls for January. The final meeting of the year to set encumbrances was set for Friday, December 28 at 7:00 p.m.

The Planning Commission, as reported by Mr. Moyer, voted not to recommend changing the R1 acreage from 4 to 2 acres. Council has now requested that the Commission make a recommendation on changing the acreage from 4 to 2 acres only in the old R2 district, which is located around Stine Road, boundaried by Riverview Road, Route 303 and the township.

The Commission also accepted the resignation of Cordell Caley and appointed Brenda Nichols to the remainder of his term.

The contract for Solicitor Ed Muse has been extended for 30 days.
