PENINSULA VILLAGE COUNCIL
June 2008: The Public Hearing on the Zoning Ordinance changes was held in addition to the regular Council meeting on the 9th of June. We had a large turnout of 56 residents (those who signed in), which when combined with the council members present, represents 10% of the population. Everyone present had the opportunity to express their views and did so in an orderly manner. Council members did not vote on the matter Monday evening; they are considering the information from the hearing as well as an additional report given to them by Brenda Nichols of the Planning Commission.
At the regular meeting, Council voted to accept a 5% increase per year on the Dispatch contract with Richfield for three years; a charter committee was formed; Council authorized the Mayor and Clerk Treas. to apply for the Byrne Memorial Grant (approximately $129,000) for the police department and a special meeting was set for June 16 at 7:00 p.m. to finish business not completed at the regular meeting. Council also voted to appeal the judge’s ruling on the Padrutt matter.
Thanks to Bob Hunker and his staff for prepping and planting the barrels at the village hall this year.
Congratulations to Officer Pete, whose wife Tiffanie will be having their first baby any day, and to Officer Merrell and his wife who are expecting their second child in the next few weeks.
Again, thank you to all the residents who came out Monday night to express their opinions.
