BOSTON TOWNSHIP

The township minutes are posted on our website at www.bostontownship.org and outside the fiscal office at the Boston Township Hall. Our meetings are covered by the Westside Leader.

ZONING: Todd Leibenauer has agreed to continue on the Zoning Commission for another five year term that will expire September 4, 2021. We still have an open position on the Zoning Commission as well as an open alternate position on the Zoning Commission. If you are interested, please contact one of the trustees.

Patrick Bravo of the Summit County Land Bank made a presentation on the origin of the land bank, and the kinds of properties eligible to take advantage of their current grants. Three properties in the township have been referred to the program.

Mark Majewski of Northstar Planning made a presentation to the trustees on June 22 and the zoning commission on July 12 emphasizing areas the zoning commission may wish to consider first; specifically, a Planned Unit Development district for the Seasons Road area, the Kendall Park/Akron Cleveland intersection as a retail/services hub, and update the resolution to list possible uses instead of "deemed similar." He will compile his findings into a draft report that can be further modified and then start the process of meeting with property owners to get their feedback.

CEMETERY BOARD: Randy Bergdorf has resigned as the township's member on the Union Cemetery Association of Boston Township. Jerry Ritch has accepted this position.

PENINSULA POLICE CONTRACT: Peninsula Council Representative Dan Schneider distributed Council's proposed three year contract beginning 2017. The contract proposal has no increase the first year and a three percent increase each year thereafter.

VALLEY FIRE: Mike Packard was promoted to a lieutenant position on Valley Fire. He is a full time member of the Brecksville Fire Department. Mike's position was previously held by Nick Zamiska who has taken a leave of absence from the department.
