BOSTON TOWNSHIP
The township minutes are posted on our website at www.bostontownship.org and outside the fiscal office at the Boston Township Hall. Trustee meetings are the second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Zoning commission meets the second Tuesday of the month and the Board of Zoning Appeals meets the fourth Wednesday of the month.
Fiscal Officer: Township Fiscal Officer Joanne Noragon has notified the trustees that she will be stepping down. At an emergency meeting held on March 31, the trustees hired Catharine Anson as Deputy Fiscal Officer. It will be necessary for the township to appoint someone to fill the term until the general election this fall. Those interested in being considered for appointment should submit a resume to the township by June 14.
Zoning Updates: The Trustees have asked the Zoning Commission to reconsider a provision in the zoning ordinance allowing accessory buildings in residential areas to be used as quarters for hired help (section 501 4a). Also, the Trustees have asked Mark Majewski of North Star Planning to prepare a proposal to assist the Zoning Commission with suggested changes based on the JEDD Corridor Analysis that he prepared.
Zoning Positions: On May 10, Ray Hach was re-appointed to a position on the Board of Zoning Appeals for a term ending June 3, 2022. The Trustees are still looking for an alternate to the Zoning Commission and an alternate to the Board of Zoning Appeals. Please contact one of the trustees if you would like to discuss serving as an alternate. Zoning board members are compensated $35 per meeting.
Parking Situation: The Boston Township Hall has many uses. The buildings contain township offices and road garage, permanent tenants in the form of a museum, an architectural firm and a law office. Additionally, there is another big room (1800 sq. ft.), currently vacant, that is in search of a tenant. Also, the two large rooms and the kitchen
in the building are being rented for parties and receptions at an unprecedented pace. It has become increasingly difficult to fulfill the parking obligations required by all of the various uses on the property. Whenever possible, like for community-wide events, the parking lot can be made available, but to insure that all of the many uses on the property have adequate parking, access to the lot will have to be limited.
Boston Mills Rd. Bridge: The Boston Mills Rd. bridge over the Ohio Turnpike is slated for replacement. That section of Boston Mills Rd. will be closed to through traffic from May 30 to August 15. Detours will be posted.
