BOSTON TOWNSHIP

The township minutes are posted on our website at www.bostontownship.org and outside the fiscal office at the Boston Township Hall. Trustee meetings are the second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Zoning commission meets the second Tuesday of the month and the Board of Zoning Appeals meets the fourth Wednesday of the month.

Congratulations!: The trustees congratulated the congregation of Peninsula United Methodist Church on the sesquicentennial of their church building constructed in 1869. A plaque from the trustees was presented to the congregation on September 22. Thank you, Dave!: On behalf of a grateful community, the trustees recognized Dave Morehouse for his 47 years of service to the Valley Fire District.

Road Department: In an effort to have a completed road agreement ahead of the approaching winter, the trustees invited the Village of Peninsula Mayor, Fiscal Officer and Council Members to a special meeting held on October 9. Trustees Anderson, Bergdorf, and Clifton met with council members Holody, Kaplan, Schneider and Weigand and discussed the draft of a Road Service Agreement. After jointly reviewing the entire agreement, modifications were referred to township legal counsel for finalization. The revised document will be reviewed by the trustees at their meeting on October 23 and then will be sent on to village council for their meeting on November 11.

Zoning Updates: The trustees held a hearing on September 11 to discuss the revisions to Chapter 7 (Business District). The revisions were passed as well as a minor change to the section on accessory buildings. Much appreciation goes out to the members of the Zoning Commission and Mark Majewski of NorthStar Planning, the township`s zoning consultant.

Brush Chipping & Leaf Removal: This is a reminder that residents should put brush out for chipping on the first Monday of the month. This program is for brush generated by routine trimming and pruning and not tree removal. Additionally, residents can put their leaves out for vacuuming. Brush and leaves will be picked up until the weather prohibits.

Garbage Contract: The township advertised for bids on a garbage contract with bids to be opened at the meeting on October 23.

Police Contract: The trustees approved a three year contract with Peninsula Police Department at their September 25 meeting.
