I'm not concerned
with your liking or
disliking me …
All I ask is that
you respect me
as a human being.

BOSTON TOWNSHIP

The Township minutes are posted on our website at www.bostontownship.org and outside the fiscal office at the Boston Township Hall. Meetings are covered by the West Side Leader.

Condolences: The Trustees expressed condolences to the family of former township trustee George Fisher, Jr. George served as trustee from 1956 through 1989. When George began as trustee, the township was largely rural with many unpaved roads and little staff and equipment. Through George`s efforts, roads were dedicated, paved and cared for with a proper road department. George was also a founding member of the Valley Fire District in 1976 and served on the Union Cemetery Board from 1964 to 1989. As part of Boston Township`s Bicentennial celebration in 2011, George graciously allowed the township to honor him for his 34 years of service to the township.

Zoning Updates: On January 25, the Board of Zoning Appeals conducted a public hearing regarding two zoning applications. The Legacy Remodeling Team was approved to locate remodeling company offices and a model home at 5062 Akron-Cleveland Road. Senuta Property, LLC, which applied to install two double-sided billboards visible to Route 8 on Parcel #07-00108 just east of the northeast corner of Akron-Cleveland and Barlow Road, requested a continuance for their hearing until May 24. The Zoning Commission held a public hearing on February 8 regarding a list of minor changes to the Boston Township Zoning Ordinance that received recommendations from the Summit County Planning Commission in October. The Zoning Commission approved the changes, sending them on to the Township Trustees for their hearing on February 23 at 6:00PM. At the Board of Zoning Appeals meeting held on January 25, township Zoning Inspector John Schneider resigned his position. The resignation was accepted at the trustees` meeting on January 26.

Road Department: Now that the new township truck has arrived and the old truck has been permanently disabled, the township will soon be receiving reimbursement from the EPA Diesel Mitigation Trust Fund for approximately $81,000. The recent major storm events have been challenging, but with the new truck in service, the Road Department staff has risen to the occasion and we thank them for their dedication!

Summit e-Waste: The trustees have entered into a no-cost agreement with Summit e-Waste Recycling Solutions to locate a collection box for obsolete electronic items (desktop computers, laptops, printers, cell phones, tablets, telephones, modems, routers, DVD players, VCRs, stereos, game consoles, cables, wires, power adapters, ink & toner cartridges, flat screen computer monitors, and batteries). The box should be located soon so that township residents can conveniently dispose of these items.
