BOSTON TOWNSHIP

The Township minutes are posted on our website at www.bostontownship.org and outside the fiscal office at the Boston Township Hall. Meetings are covered by the West Side Leader. Trustee meetings are the second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Zoning commission meets the second Tuesday of the month and the Board of Zoning Appeals meets the fourth Tuesday of the month.

Road Department: Brush pick up commenced the first Monday in May and will continue through October. Place cut ends toward the curb. Please no dirt, or dirt balls and no foreign material such as lumber, nails, or barbed wire. For more information, please call the Road Department at (330) 657-2600. Should there be no one in the garage to answer, please leave a message. Starting on October 18 and lasting through December 10, the road department will be vacuuming up leaves as they begin to fall. Leaves should be piled off the road pavement and should not include branches or other debris. The township and the village have once again signed a contract regarding the township supplying the village with salt for the winter. The township has purchased a used (2020 model year) tar kettle to be used on township roads for sealing and patching.

Zoning Updates: Todd Leibenauer was reappointed to the Zoning Commission for a five-year term ending September 4, 2026. At a joint work session held on August 17, both zoning boards reviewed the text of minor changes to the zoning resolution. At the Zoning Commission meeting held September 14, the members voted to send the changes to the Summit County Planning Commission for their review and comment. When those comments have been received, the Zoning Commission will schedule a hearing followed by a similar hearing held by the township trustees.

Seasons Road Corridor Issues: The township has received word that progress is being made on the Western Reserve Hospital to be built on the Hudson side of the Boston-Hudson border along Seasons Road. A few years back, the Boston Township Zoning Ordinance was modified to include a special Seasons Road Business District zoning category to allow for planned developments as a result of the hospital. Additionally, the township is in talks with Cuyahoga Falls and Summit County about the extension of water and sewer, respectively, into the township in the Seasons Road Business District. Thirty-five property owners have been sent surveys requesting their level of interest in securing utilities. To help cover the costs associated with extending sewer and water, the township has pledged American Recovery Plan funds to be received in 2021 and 2022 towards this project. $39,920 is expected in 2021 and a similar amount is expected in 2022. Furthermore, the township is exploring grants and other funding options that may be available.

November 2 Election: As with the most recent elections, the November 2nd election will be held in the Township Trustees` meeting room. This allows for the best flow of voters into and out of the polls.
