BOSTON TOWNSHIP

Road Department: Road Superintendent Dave Krusinski and Deputy Fiscal Officer Catherine Anson are continuing to look for grants for township roads. This time the township is seeking $90,000 for work on Hines Hill Road through the Public Land Access Grant program. Brush pick-up will commence after May 1st on the first Mondays of the month and will continue through October. Place cut ends toward the curb. Please, no dirt, or dirt balls and no foreign materials such as lumber, nails or barbed wire. For more information, please call the Road Department at (330) 657-2600.

Zoning Updates: As a reminder, the hearing before the Board of Zoning Appeals regarding the application from Senuta Property, LLC, which applied to install two double-sided billboards visible to Route 8 on Parcel #07-00108 just east of the northeast corner of the Akron-Cleveland Rd. and Barlow Rd. intersection, has been continued until May 24 at the request of the applicant. Also, to be considered on May 24 will be an application for conditional use and a variance for the property located at 105 Kendall Park Rd.

Summit e-Waste: The e-Waste Recycling Solutions collection box which was placed at the rear of the township property has been well received. Obsolete electronic items (desktop computers, laptops, printers, cell phones, tablets, telephones, modems, routers, DVD players, VCRs, stereos, game consoles, cables, wires, power adapters, ink & toner cartridges, flat screen computer monitors, and batteries) can be placed in the collection box.

Akron-Cleveland Road Improvement Project: The Summit County Engineer`s office received $700,000 in federal funds for the resurfacing of 1.43 miles of Akron-Cleveland Road in Boston Township from the Boston Heights border to the Cuyahoga Falls border. Work will include pavement repairs, shoulder restoration, resurfacing, and new pavement markings. Construction is anticipated in the Summer of 2022. For updated information, please see:

JEDD U: Under the terms of the Joint Economic Development District (JEDD) Agreement between Cuyahoga Falls and Boston Township, Cuyahoga Falls proposes to install a water line along Akron-Cleveland Road from approximately Seasons Road to Suncrest Garden Center. The proposed water line will be sent out for bid in June with construction to start in August prior to the resurfacing of Akron-Cleveland Road. Property owners along the water line will be contacted as information becomes available as to the cost to connect to the proposed water line. The JEDD is continuing to discuss options to extend sanitary sewers along the same route.

Memorial Day: After a two-year hiatus, there will once again be Memorial Day parades this year. Remember that after the Peninsula parade there is a parade in Boston, leaving from the former Boston Community Church at approximately 12:30 and ending at the Boston Cemetery.
