NEWS FROM MAIN STREET PENINSULA
As explained in the May YCN, Peninsula is now a Main Street
Community. As a part of this program, an important element
is Design and this involves creating a sense of place, way finding,
and how the community looks and feels. With the help of
all area residents, we want to get involved in a program
that provides free benches to be placed around designated
areas for more seating. This program is called Nex-Trex and is
a plastic recycling program. We are challenged with coming
up with 500 pounds of plastic material over a 6 month collection
period. Here is where your help is critical. Items to be recycled
include grocery bags, bread bags, bubble wrap, dry cleaning
bags, newspaper sleeves, ice bags, plastic shipping
envelopes, Ziploc bags, cereal bags, pallet wrap and stretch
film, wooden pallet bags, and produce bags. All plastic needs
to be clean and does not include water bottles. The Main
Street Committee thought this is a very doable community
project and so we are requesting your help. At this point we
are waiting on the Collection Bins which will be placed at
Terry Lumber, The Peninsula Road Garage next to Terry
Lumber, and the former DMT Garage on the corner of
Locust and Main Street. In the meantime, if households
could starting collecting the materials above now, that would
be wonderful. We will get the word out when the bins are in place.
A special thanks to the North Hampton Rotary for already donating
500 pounds of recyclable materials for a bench. Please
help us get the next 500 pounds because you can get 2
benches a year.
Thanks so much for your help.
