Building: Mother of Sorrows was built in 1882 to provide ministry and worship opportunities for descendants of Irish Catholics who came to Ohio in the 1820s to build the Ohio and Erie canals. Our doors have remained open since then; but now, after 142 years, the church property is in serious need of repair and renovation in order to remain a beautiful landmark and a beacon of love and hope for many generations to come. The estimated cost for necessary updates is $165,000. We will retain the integrity of the structure and property so that it will compliment the image of our small village. Financial help is welcome from the community for this historical church project. Please consider donating to the Building Maintenance, Repair and Renovation Program. No contribution is too large or too small! Checks can be mailed directly to MOS (6034 Locust Street, Peninsula OH 44264) or dropped off at the office Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:00AM to 2:00PM. Every dollar donated will be used exclusively for repairs and renovations so that we can keep our beautiful little church a vibrant part of our Peninsula community. If you have any questions about the project or how you could help, please contact Deacon Yoho (330-657-2631).
Faith & Fiction Book Club continues to meet the second Wednesday of each month at 10:00AM for coffee with book talk beginning at 10:30AM. We are made up of parishioners and non-parishioners, men and women, Catholics and non-Catholics.
Ash Wednesday is March 5: Distribution of ashes will take place at 7:00PM. Everyone is welcome.
