BOSTON TOWNSHIP
The Boston Township minutes are posted on our website at www.bostontownship.organd outside the office of the Fiscal Officer in the Boston Township Hall. Our meetings are not currently being covered by The West Side Leader. Additionally, The West Side Leader did not cover Boston Township candidates or issues for the recent election.
Zoning Update: Every community has a few parcels that pose a challenge regarding zoning compliance. Most property owners want to be in compliance and respond appropriately when contacted by the Zoning Inspector. Periodically, a perennially non-compliant parcel is referred to the Township Solicitor for further enforcement. To contact Zoning Inspector Ruben Miller, please leave a message at (330) 657-2601. Also, until further notice, the Zoning Commission will be having a work session at 5:30PM, prior to their regular meeting, on the second Tuesdays of each month. They are working with zoning consultant Fred Guerra on revisions to the resolution.
Road Department: This winter has been exceptionally challenging for many reasons, not the least of which is the amount of snow, the long stretches of below zero temperatures and the lack of availability of salt. Boston Township maintains 11.128 miles of road, which translates into 22.256 lane miles that need plowing. The township maintains all or parts of: West Barlow, Center, Geoppert, Keenan, Main, Major, Oak Hill, Scobie, Stanford, Stine, Sullivan Lane, Wetmore, Whaley, and Woodland. Thanks to Assistant Road Superintendent Jon Farmer and Deputy Fiscal Officer Catherine Anson, the township has applied for a grant from the Ohio EPA with the goal of better utilizing the amount of salt that is spread on the roads. The township has applied to upgrade the salt storage and loading areas and to upgrade the auger and salt spreader systems on the township trucks.
