PENINSULA FOUNDATION
We hope 2026 is off to a good start for you. January has certainly brought its share of cold and snow, but the Village of Peninsula is beautiful in every season—and there is something especially magical when it`s blanketed in white. Here`s what`s happening at the Peninsula Foundation as we begin the new year:
This year, the Peninsula Foundation has made the decision not to renew its Airbnb licenses in the Village. This was a thoughtful business decision that we believe is in the best long-term interest of both the Foundation and the Village.
Approximately three years ago, the Foundation issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a select number of under-utilized properties, seeking partners who could help bring new life to these spaces. Since then, three properties have been sold, and we are pleased to see them moving forward with new owners and fresh possibilities.
The Peninsula Foundation is also currently seeking an Asset Manager to oversee the care and stewardship of our historic properties. Information about this exciting opportunity can be found on our website at www.thepeninsulafoundation.org.
Work continues on the rehabilitation of the historic G.A.R. Hall. Exterior siding has been repaired or replaced, and new insulation has been added to improve comfort and efficiency. Upcoming plans include remodeling the lower-level interior, including the kitchen and restrooms. This summer, we look forward to painting the interior of the main hall and refinishing the floor, and in August the Civil War medallions flanking the stage will be restored. We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who has donated, encouraged, and supported this important project—your generosity makes this work possible.
Our next Poetry in the Valley event, hosted by Renay Sanders, will take place on March 31 at 6:30PM at the G.A.R. Hall. You`re welcome to come listen or bring a favorite poem to share—we would love to see you.
Finally, we invite you to join us for a Voices in the Valley performance. The G.A.R. Hall is a special listening room for roots music, and we especially enjoy welcoming our neighbors for an evening of great music and community. Our full schedule is available at www.thepeninsulafoundation.org.
