PENINSULA VILLAGE COUNCIL

July 2008. The village full time employee health insurance was approved by council, with an increase of 11%. Ms. Holody suggested a committee to explore other options for next year.

The 2009 tax budget in the amount of $111,900.00 was approved to be sent to the County Fiscal Officer. This is unchanged from the 2008 numbers. The tax budget is the amount of money the village expects to receive from real estate taxes in the upcoming year. This amount is comprised of the General Levy - $12,000, Police Levy - $57,000 and Road Levy - $42,900.

The Cuyahoga Valley National Park has increased the dollar amount available for the Foot Patrol as well as the hours of coverage. It has been agreed the village can call in a Foot Patrol officer as needed for scheduled train days, and more weekdays have been added during the fall at the park’s expense.

Mayor Fisher reported he had been making connections with grant writers and exploring grants that might be available without matching funds.

The damage from the brick truck on Rt. 303 has been reimbursed to the village by insurance. Council appropriated those funds and instructed Burda to get quotes to replace the damaged concrete with sandstone for consideration.

The new police cars will be here shortly – Council approved the leases this meeting as well.

Mr. Hunker reported that he has had discussion with Village Engineer Charles Uray, Architect Richard Brown, and Thorson Baker Engineering about the Players Barn. He will continue those discussions to resolve the asbestos problem. Mayor Fisher has issued a memo requiring the Police and Service Departments to remove all village equipment from the Barn immediately.

The potential Road Department collaboration with Boston Township was discussed amongst council members.

The Zoning Amendment which had been tabled at the last meeting was brought up; it remains tabled.
