PENINSULA COUNCIL

The Peninsula Village Council met in regular session on December 12. The meeting was preceded by a public hearing on a proposed Zoning Ordinance concerning sandwich boards. The Chamber of Commerce had a lot of input in preparing the legislation.

The Council voted to enter into a contract with the City of Stow Building Department to provide approval and inspection services to the Village residents. Previously, the Summit County Building Department provided these services. A contract with the Summit County Public Defender’s Office for services for the next year was also approved.

Council was also informed that the Police Department will replace one cruiser in 2012 and authorized them to look into various lease options for the new vehicle.

Mayor Fisher announced the appointment of Mike Matusz to the Board of Zoning Appeals. He will replace Grover Miller. Council also confirmed the reappointment of Richard Slocum to the Fire Board.

Council was presented with information from Summit County concerning joining with their group to provide health insurance benefits to the Village employees. Council will consider the matter after getting more information.
