PENINSULA UMC REACHES OUT TO HELP HAITI
The Peninsula United Methodist Church’s Outreach Committee is proud to announce it will participate in its first ever International Mission Trip! Two PUMC members, along with 18 other people from Buffalo, Pittsburgh and Cuyahoga Falls, will be departing on January 28th, 2012 for Port au Prince, Haiti.
This trip has an ‘education’ theme. The focus will be on providing astronomy and science curricula, art and music after school programs, as well as bible lessons for the Haitian children. Adults will have the opportunity to receive musical coaching and to learn basic first aid. The main emphasis will be on providing demonstrations on how to use water filtration kits to generate clean, safe, drinkable water. The Mission Group will be carrying as many water filtration kits and educational supplies as their luggage can hold.
This is where your help is needed! PUMC invites you to help a Haitian family obtain safe, clean water by funding a water filtration kit. Each kit could provide a lifetime of drinkable water for an entire family and only costs $40. You can also donate any amount toward the purchase of much needed school supplies. One hundred percent of your donation will go toward the kits and supplies, all of which will be hand delivered by Loretta and David in January!
