PENINSULA VILLAGE
The Village of Peninsula Council met in regular session on July 8, 2013. The Mayor announced that he hoped to have a Police Chief candidate to present at the next Council Meeting. He then gave a report to the Council and the citizens on the seismic testing that had been going on in the Village and surrounding communities. He also announced that the Village received two grants from the National Park to improve the road by the Girl Scout Camp and to refurbish the guardrails on the Route 303 Bridge.
Council passed a Resolution declaring August 2013 as Summit Children's Month. They approved the appointment of Rebecca Garner as the new Zoning Inspector for the Village. She may be contacted at 330-657-2714 for any
Zoning questions or issues. After over a year of consideration, Council voted down the Parking Meter proposal. Since the vote ended in a tie, the Mayor cast the deciding no vote saying he would rather wait until a new Police Chief is on board before the Village commits to the station.
The chipping program continues the first Monday of each month through October. The leaf pick up program is scheduled to begin the second week of October and end on November 30.
