STATE ROUTE 8 ….. AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY?
At their most recent meeting the Boston Township Trustees hosted Jason Segedy, Director of the Greater Akron Metropolitan Area Transportation Study (AMATS).
AMATS is the principal transportation planning agency in our area, and they recently made headlines "Agency Proposes Route 8's rebirth as I-380". The "I Road" designation is recognized by everyone.
Should State Route 8 become I-380, it will be an enormous shot in the arm for the development of our Akron Cleveland Road Corridor, and the tax base of our Township.
AMATS can also be instrumental in helping our township generate local traffic improvements, such as the Akron Cleveland Road Wyoga Lake intersection which was discussed.
There has been little fanfare, but our trustees efforts continue to meet with success in generating the new development which could produce jobs and reduce our tax rate increases.
Take a look at the AMATS web site www.amatsplanning.org. For traffic information look at "traffic count data", then use the interactive zoom to click on the blue dot where you have interest.
