THE CAMPAIGN BEGUN
It is not about politics. It is about a season that is both earthly and spiritual. It began the first week of March and can be a time of rebirth and new life. It is much more than the hope of spring after the darkness of winter. It is named Lent. A time for everyone to let go of all kinds of preconceived notions, attitudes, unhealthy habits, self-centered ways in order to appreciate how we are wired. It is a time for listening to the story that is for all ages. It is time to encounter anew or for the first time the one solitary life where all will find eternal life. The way is to fast. Let go of all that is not necessary and that will mean something more for those in need. As less time is taken with electronics, media, one’s own agenda, there is time for others (at home and far away). As we take less food for ourselves, others might begin to have enough. The way is to pray. To open our hearts to the One in whom all hearts will find rest. To speak to the One who is always attentive and to be attentive to the One who is The Way, The Truth, and The Life. Lent is a time to join others in prayer as they journey these Forty Days. With fasting and praying as the means of letting go, letting the One, whose love is unconditional and all embracing into our lives will help bring us to a new springtime, a Lent that is not about giving up but finding what the One who made us has always planned for all humankind. The campaign has begun. It is not too late. It is realizing the time already is and it is not to late to fast, pray, and share. It is not too late for letting go to find the Way, the Truth, and the Life. (www.motherofsorrowspeninsula.org for schedule of Lenten Services and more)
