PENINSULA VILLAGE

The Village of Peninsula Council met on October 20. Members approved the Boston Township salt contract, Foot Patrol contract with the National Park Service, and, the OVI Task force agreement with the Summit County Sheriff’s office.

Council then met on November 10, 2014 at their regularly scheduled meeting. Council had several presentations: Simple Recycling, Regional Income Tax Agency, Joe Paradise from the Summit County Engineer’s Office, and Gary Diorio from MS Consulting, all addressed Council. Council considered and approved a grant from the Northeast Ohio Four County Regional Planning Organization (NEFCO) to perform an evaluation of asbestos within the Player’s Barn. The evaluation is essential for a US EPA Brownfields clean up grant opportunity due in December. There is no cost to the Village for the initial grant.

Members approved legislation to renew the Summit County Public Defender’s contract, a contract with Simple Recycling, which would allow for residents to recycle textiles, a contract with Walter Drane to update the Village’s codified ordinances, and a contract with MS Consulting for Consulting Services.

Fliers will be mailed out to residents explaining the program with Simple Recycling.

Village of Peninsula administrative offices will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday, Thursday November 27 and Friday November 28.
