BOSTON TOWNSHIP

The township minutes are posted on our website at www.bostontownship.org and outside the fiscal office at the Boston Township Hall. Trustee meetings are the second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Zoning commission meets the second Tuesday of the month and the Board of Zoning Appeals meets the fourth Wednesday of the month.

WOODRIDGE CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS: Members of the boys` and girls` Woodridge Cross Country teams attended the December 14 meeting of the township trustees. In a joint recognition by the trustees and Peninsula Village Council, the team members and the coaching staff were recognized for their winning of the state championship. Also recognized at the event was Charlene Cooper for her twenty plus years of supporting the teams through the production of t-shirts and fundraising.

ZONING INSPECTOR CELL PHONE: The township has supplied Zoning Inspector Doug Mayer with a cell phone so that he can receive calls when he is out of the zoning office. Residents can call either the zoning office (330-657-2601) or the zoning cell phone (234-900-9145). Doug can be reached at bostontwpzoning@windstream.net as well.

COMMUNITY BAZAAR: Thank you to all who participated in our Community Bazaar on December 3. There was a record number of booths and shoppers! The event resulted in a collection of $588 which will be turned over to the Boston Township Hall Committee to assist them in their continuing efforts to keep the historic hall restored and maintained.

ED PULLEKINS TO BE RECOGNIZED: Ed Pullekins began as Boston Township Solicitor on January 1, 1982 and has continued in that capacity to this day. As of December 31, Ed will have completed 35 years of service to Boston Township, the Valley Fire District and many other local groups. At 35 years, Ed has served Boston Township longer than any other individual. The trustees will be recognizing Ed with an open house to be held before their January 11, 2017 meeting. Please come to congratulate Ed on this milestone achievement. We will begin at 6:30 pm in the trustees` meeting room.

SALT CONTRACT RENEWED: At the meeting held on November 23, the trustees voted to renew the salt contract with Peninsula Village. This contract authorizes the township to sell salt to the village for the upcoming year.

Food Drive: Thank you to all who donated food, gifts certificates and presents to the efforts this year. Almost 50 families will be receiving assistance this year. This effort could not succeed without the generosity of many groups and individuals.

ZONING POSITIONS AVAILABLE: We are looking for one member for our Zoning Commission and one alternate to the same board. Zoning Commission members meet once a month to analyze the zoning ordinance for any updates or modifications, review changes in zoning laws that might impact the zoning ordinance, and provide guidance to the Board of Zoning Appeals regarding appeals to the zoning ordinance. Please contact one of the trustees if you would like to discuss serving on the Zoning Commission.

REMEMBERING: John Lahoski: December 19, 2005.
