BOSTON TOWNSHIP

The township minutes are posted on our website at www.bostontownship.org and outside the fiscal office at the Boston Township Hall. Trustee meetings are the second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Zoning commission meets the second Tuesday of the month and the Board of Zoning Appeals meets the fourth Wednesday of the month.

Ed Pullekins: On January 11, the trustees recognized township solicitor Ed Pullekins for his 35 years of service to the township, dating back to 1982. Also present were Ed`s wife, Mary, and his legal secretary, Ann Williams. Ed`s service to the township is immensely appreciated, benefiting the township, the fire district, the township hall committee, the cemetery board, and in too many other ways to mention. Thank you, Ed, and we look forward to many more years of working with you!

Gene and Evelyn Kaczmarski: Through a wee bit of trickery, the trustees made sure that Gene and Evelyn Kaczmarski were at the event mentioned above to recognize Ed Pullekins. As part of the event, Gene and Evelyn were recognized for their MANY years of service to the community by becoming Mr. and Mrs. Claus for the community`s annual party. On behalf of the entire community, we thank you, Gene and Evelyn, for your great dedication to the community`s children.

Township Hall: The Boston Twp. Hall Committee thanked the trustees for contributing the proceeds from the Community Bazaar towards their restoration efforts. During the month of February the wood floors in the two community rooms will be refinished.

Zoning Hearing: A zoning hearing will be set for Kamper City who has requested two variances for a fence. They have applied for a height variance as well as a variance regarding the location of the fence.

Zoning Positions Available: We are looking for one member for our Zoning Commission and one alternate to the same board. Zoning Commission members meet once a month to analyze the zoning ordinance for any updates or modifications, review changes in zoning laws that might impact the zoning ordinance, and provide guidance to the Board of Zoning Appeals regarding appeals to the zoning ordinance. Please contact one of the trustees if you would like to discuss serving on the Zoning Commission. Zoning board members are compensated $35 per meeting.

JEDD Corridor Plan: Mark Majewski of Northstar Planning attended the meeting held on January 25. He presented a final draft of a plan for the JEDD corridor along Akron-Cleveland Road. Mark will be attending the Zoning Commission meeting on March 14 to address issues.
