BOSTON TOWNSHIP

The township minutes are posted on our website at www.bostontownship.org and outside the fiscal office at the Boston Township Hall. Trustee meetings are the second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Zoning commission meets the second Tuesday of the month and the Board of Zoning Appeals meets the fourth Wednesday of the month.

Deputy Fiscal Officer: Township Fiscal Officer Joanne Noragon went out on an unplanned leave at the end of March. At an emergency meeting held on March 31, the trustees hired Catharine Anson as Deputy Fiscal Officer in Joanne's absence. Catherine currently serves as the Fiscal Officer for the Valley Fire District. We all wish Joanne a speedy return to her township duties!

Zoning Hearing: A zoning hearing was held for Kamper City on March 28. Kamper City had requested two variances for a fence. A height variance was granted, but a variance regarding the location of the fence was denied.

Zoning Positions: On March 22, Don Beal was appointed to fill the unexpired position on the Zoning Commission for a term ending September 4, 2019. The Trustees are still looking for an alternate to the Zoning Commission and an alternate to the Board of Zoning Appeals. Please contact one of the trustees if you would like to discuss serving as an alternate. Zoning board members are compensated $35 per meeting.

"No Parking" Signs Requested for Columbia Road: Due to a large increase in visitors to nearby hiking trails, it has become necessary to post much of Columbia Road as a "No Parking" zone. Application has been made to the Summit County Engineer's office to install the signs.

Boston Cemetery: At the meeting held March 22, the trustees approved entering into a contract with the Union Cemetery Association for the maintenance of the Boston Cemetery. An agreement is being drawn up for review by both boards.
