BOSTON TOWNSHIP
The township minutes are posted on our website at www.bostontownship.org and outside the fiscal office at the Boston Township Hall. Trustee meetings are the second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Zoning commission meets the second Tuesday of the month and the Board of Zoning Appeals meets the fourth Wednesday of the month.
Zoning Updates: On July 27, the Summit County Planning Commission will be reviewing the Boston Township Zoning Commission's recommendation to remove the section of the zoning ordinance that allows accessory buildings to be used as quarters for hired help (section 5014a). After the county's review, the Zoning Commission can schedule a hearing on the matter. The Board of Zoning Appeals will be hearing an appeal from Daniel Bridle regarding his property at 5649 Akron-Cleveland Road at their meeting on July 25 at 6:30PM. In addition, an appeal request from Kamper City for its property at 5549 Akron-Cleveland Road will also be heard that night. Mark Majewski of North Star Planning has begun the process of helping the Zoning Commission draft changes to the zoning ordinance based on the JEDD Corridor Analysis that he prepared. The initial focus will be the area in close proximity to Seasons Road Any changes to the zoning ordinance will require separate hearings by both the Zoning Commission and the Township Trustees. At the trustees' meeting held July 12, Zoning Commission member Mike Anderson was re-appointed to a five-year term ending on September 4, 2022.
Zoning Inspector: The Trustees decided at the meeting on June 28 to advertise for the part-time position of Zoning Inspector. If anyone is interested in the position, please contact one of the trustees. Resumes must be received by July 26. You may mail them to P.O. Box 123, Peninsula, OH 44264. The position requires attendance at evening meetings and that the appointed person be bondable.
Bicycle Event: Please be advised that on Sunday, July 30 there will be two bicycle events crisscrossing the township. The roads involved will be Riverview, Everett, Bolanz and Akron-Peninsula.
Simple Recycling: Simple Recycling has notified the township that they will be changing the color of the bags that they use for recycling. The current green bags will soon be changing to orange bags. Simple Recycling will be sending out a notice to households explaining the program along with two orange bags for future use.
