BOSTON TOWNSHIP

The township minutes are posted on our website at www.bostontownship.org and outside the fiscal office at the Boston Township Hall. Trustee meetings are the second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Zoning commission meets the second Tuesday of the month and the Board of Zoning Appeals meets the fourth Wednesday of the month.

Road Department: The road department has switched gears from winter mode to spring mode. As always, the road department will be around to chip branches, but you can let them know that you need chipping by leaving a message at (330) 657-2600.

Township Hall News: The Boston Township Hall Committee, which oversees the care and management of the township hall, has installed Wi-Fi in the buildings which can be used during events held there. Also, the Quarry Room in the lower level of the wood building has been added to the rooms available for rental. Visit www.bostontownshiphall.org for more information.

Zoning Updates: The Zoning Commission continues to work with Mark Majewski of Northstar Planning regarding text amendments to the Business Corridor. Currently under discussion are changes to the zoning text regarding properties in the area of Seasons Road. A hearing was held by the Board of Zoning Appeals on March 27 for Sean Dwyer of 241 Keenan Road. At that hearing Mr. Dwyer was granted a variance to build a garage.

Peninsula JEDD: Steps are being completed to add two properties to the Boston Township-Peninsula JEDD. Once the two properties are added, then income tax can be collected for those working on the properties.

Grants: The Township has applied for a $707 grant from ReWorks to be used towards leaf pickup, a $260 grant from NOPEC to be used for the replacement of the door on the road garage, and a $250 grant from NOPEC to be used for a community event.
