What if, today,
we were grateful
for everything?

BOSTON TOWNSHIP

The township minutes are posted on our website at www.bostontownship.org and outside the fiscal office at the Boston Township Hall. Trustee meetings are the second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Zoning commission meets the second Tuesday of the month and the Board of Zoning Appeals meets the fourth Wednesday of the month.

Jack Mercer: The Township Trustees recognized the many contributions made to the community by Jack Mercer who passed away on October 30. For many years, Jack led the service on Memorial Day at both cemeteries, always keeping the service about the community`s Veterans and their sacrifices. Jack was also known for being a youth athletic coach, a teacher at the school in Peninsula (then known as Woodridge Junior High School), an avid gardener, a member of the Peninsula United Methodist Church, and so many more community-related activities. Our condolences are extended to his family and many friends.

Road Department: The smaller snowplow truck, a Ford 550, has been replaced. The new truck was obtained from Ganley Ford at a cost of $62,322. The old truck, which was purchased in 2007, was listed on Govdeals.com where it sold for $19,000 on November 16. Weather permitting, the Road Department will be out vacuuming up leaves during the next few weeks. Please pile leaves close to the roadway, but not in the roadway. Zoning Updates: Northstar Planning is continuing to work with the Zoning Commission to review the zoning for the Business Corridor (Chapter 7) which last saw major changes in 1996. Of special concern is focusing on impacts on the residential areas along the west side of Akron-Cleveland Road.

Share-A-Christmas: Once again there will be collection boxes at the Peninsula Library and Terry Lumber to collect donations of non-expired non-perishable food. Near the middle of December everything that has been collected will be sorted and delivered to families in the community that are in need of assistance during the holidays.

Boston Township Bazaar: Once again the Trustees will be sponsoring the holiday bazaar. This year it will be held on December 1.
