BOSTON TOWNSHIP
The township minutes are posted on our website at www.bostontownship.org and outside the fiscal office at the Boston Township Hall. Trustee meetings are the second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Zoning commission meets the second Tuesday of the month and the Board of Zoning Appeals meets the fourth Wednesday of the month.
Condolences: The trustees express condolences to the family of Lida Flowers Brandt. Lida served the township as both a member of the Zoning Commission for twenty-one years and as the Zoning Secretary for both the Zoning Commission and the Board of Zoning Appeals for eight years. Lida is survived by her husband, Tony, her sister and brother-in-law, Diane and John Prusak and her extended family and many friends.
Road Department: The village and the township road departments continue to collaborate on road projects. After reviewing their needs and goals, Peninsula Village`s solicitor submitted a "scope of services" to the township trustees who reviewed it for the first time at the meeting on June 12. Talks will continue on this issue to see if an agreement can be reached that is mutually beneficial to both communities.
Zoning Updates: The Zoning Commission continues to work with Mark Majewski of NorthStar Planning regarding text amendments to the Business Corridor. The most recent draft was reviewed by the Summit County Planning Commission at a hearing scheduled for May 30. The Summit County Planning Commission made some recommendations for the Zoning Commission to consider. After that review, the commission made minor revisions based on the recommendations and scheduled a hearing for Tuesday, August 13 at 6:30PM.
Brush Chipping: This is a reminder that residents should put brush out for chipping on the first Monday of the month. This program is for brush generated by routine trimming and pruning and not tree removal.
Tag Sale: Boston Township held a tag sale on July 6 with the contents of the house donated to the township by life-time resident Jeanette Fakolt. Additionally, some obsolete signs and other items were added to the sale. The township trustees would like to thank the following people who helped with the sale: Dave and Patty Krusinski, Dan Schneider, Jr., Peg Johnston, Cathy Anson, and Tom Germain. Special thanks to Nina Alvis and Peg Whitman who spent hours pricing the items. Many people attending the sale knew Jeanette and we all enjoyed sharing memories.
