BOSTON TOWNSHIP

The township minutes are posted on our website at www.bostontownship.org and outside the fiscal office at the Boston Township Hall. Trustee meetings are the second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Zoning commission meets the second Tuesday of the month and the Board of Zoning Appeals meets the fourth Wednesday of the month.

Thank you, Ed!: At the trustees" meeting held on November 27, there was a brief "thank you" to Ed Pullekins for his 38 years of service to the township. Because it was attached to a regular meeting, the event was very abbreviated. The trustees want to have another time to thank Ed when our full attention can be devoted to honoring him. Please come to an open house to honor and thank Ed that will be held in the Township Meeting room on Saturday, March 21 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM.

Organizational Meeting: The trustees held their annual organizational meeting on January 8. At that time the trustees" committee assignments were reaffirmed: Amy Anderson—Police, Randy Bergdorf—Zoning and Township Hall, and Bill Clifton—JEDD boards. The trustees also approved the reappointment of Jerry Ritch to the Cemetery Board for the at-large position. This appointment also requires concurrence with Peninsula council.

Road Department: Although the winter has been relatively mild so far, the Road Dept. has spent considerable time cleaning up roadways after the recent episodes of high winds. Road Department Agreement: Due to time running out before the onset of winter, the township and village have approved an interim agreement until such time as a more thorough agreement can be completed. The interim agreement goes through March 31. Driveway Address Markers: After many years of being in place, we have come to find the "black with white numbers" driveway address markers in the township are showing their age. In some instances, they have gone missing entirely. If your driveway address marker is in need of replacement, please notify the township road garage at (330) 657-2600.

NOPEC Grant: Once again the trustees have voted to apply for a grant from the Northeast Ohio Public Energy Council (NOPEC). The township has applied for $250 to help cover the costs for Memorial Day.

Police Levy: The township`s police levy will be expiring at the end of 2020. The trustees have authorized the township solicitor to begin the process required to seek renewal of the levy. We will have more information on the levy renewal process very soon.

BTHC Lease: In November of 1995 the trustees voted to enter into a lease agreement with the then newly formed Boston Township Hall Committee, Inc. for the purpose of restoring the historic Boston Township Hall and providing for its operation and maintenance. At the time, a 25-year lease was approved which comes up for renewal in 2020. In the upcoming months, both entities will be reviewing the lease in regards to the renewal provisions.
