BOSTON TOWNSHIP

The township minutes are posted on our website at www.bostontownship.org and outside the fiscal office at the Boston Township Hall. Trustee meetings are the second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Zoning commission meets the second Tuesday of the month and the Board of Zoning Appeals meets the fourth Wednesday of the month.

Coronavirus (Covid-19): The coronavirus has been and will continue to impact all aspects of our daily lives which includes local governments and the provision of services. Boston Township will continue to operate, albeit with less staffing hours and impacts on meetings. Trustee meetings will be much briefer with a focus on essentials to keep potential exposures at a minimum. Zoning meetings will not be held if there is no pending business. The business of the township will still be done but health and safety considerations must be taken into account.

Pullekins Retirement Event: Due to the restrictions on gatherings currently in place, the retirement event for Ed Pullekins has been postponed to a date to be determined. Please watch for the announcement of a new date after the ban on gatherings has been lifted.

Agreement with Peninsula Village: The agreement with Peninsula Village (regarding the provision of road services and their staff locating in the Township Road garage) has been extended to give time for both communities to explore all options.

Police Levy: The township*s police levy will be expiring at the end of 2020. The trustees have authorized the township solicitor to request estimates from the county for various budgeting scenarios that could be adopted. In order to be placed on the November 3 ballot, the township must file with the Board of Elections by August 5.

Zoning Inspector Applications: At the meeting held on March 11, Zoning Inspector Dan Schneider, Jr. requested that the trustees begin the process to find a replacement. Those wishing to be considered for the Zoning Inspector position should submit a resume with relevant experiences listed. Resumes should be received by the trustee*s meeting to be held on April 8.

A Welcome and a Thank You! The trustees would like to welcome Pam Schneider as the township*s Fiscal Officer starting April 1. Also, we would like to thank Catherine Anson for her service to the township. Catherine has agreed to be the township*s Deputy Fiscal Officer, not only to facilitate the transition, but also to assist should there be a need due to unforeseen circumstances.
