BOSTON TOWNSHIP
The Township minutes are posted on our website at www.bostontownship.org and outside the fiscal office at the Boston Township Hall. Meetings are covered by the West Side Leader.
Happy Birthday, Marjorie Morgan! At the meeting held July 13, the trustees wished life-long township resident Marjorie Morgan a happy 100th birthday!

CONGRATULATIONS JIMMY! Beginning his career in law enforcement in 1988, Sgt. Jimmy McCue retired on June 20, 2022 from Boston Heights Police Department. After losing their police contract with Peninsula in 1998 the Township obtained coverage with the Summit County Sheriff. Thanks to Jimmy`s efforts the Township regained the contract in May 2005. We thank Jimmy for taking wonderful care of our residents and wish him a long and happy retirement.
Road Department: Brush pick-up will continue on the first Mondays of the month through October. For more information, please call the Road Department at (330) 657-2600. Earlier this year, through the efforts of Rd. Supt. Dave Krusinski and Deputy Fiscal Officer Cathy Anson, the township applied for a grant to resurface various township roads from the Ohio Department of Transportation`s Township Stimulus program. The township was awarded $245,412. When bids were received, the cost came in at $287,652. The amount of approximately $21,000 will be covered by Peninsula Village as part of a joint effort regarding Stine Road. On July 13, it was announced that Summit County will provide additional funds to cover the remaining shortfall. For assistance on this project, the township would like to thank Joe Paradise from the Summit County Engineer`s Office and Brian Nelsen from County Executive Ilene Shapiro`s office.
Zoning Updates: The hearing before the Board of Zoning Appeals regarding the application from Senuta Property, LLC, which applied to install two double-sided billboards visible to Route 8 on Parcel #07-00108 just east of the northeast corner of the Akron-Cleveland Road and Barlow Road intersection, was continued until July 26 due to the illness of the township solicitor. At the meeting held July 13, the trustees voted to hire Laura Brock as Zoning Secretary/Clerk to start work as of August 1, 2022. Welcome, Laura!
Akron-Cleveland Road Waterline Project: On June 27, 2022 Cuyahoga Falls City Council approved having their Director of Public Service enter into a contract to install a 12" waterline along a portion of Akron-Cleveland Road in Boston Township. This phase of the waterline extension will go from approximately the intersection with Wyoga Lake Road to approximately 5194 Akron-Cleveland Road. Construction is expected to be completed by November.
Police Contract: The policing contract between the township and Peninsula Village has been renewed for another three-year period to expire on December 31, 2025. There will be no increase in cost for 2023 with 3% increases for each of 2024 and 2025.
