BOSTON TOWNSHIP

Akron-Cleveland Road Water Service: Through the Joint Economic Development District (JEDD) Agreement between Cuyahoga Falls and Boston Township, Cuyahoga Falls extended its water system along Akron-Cleveland Road to a point near Sunbelt Rentals. Guidance and cost estimates are now available for property owners in the vicinity to connect to the new water line. Please contact Boston Township Trustee Bill Clifton for additional information if you are interested in connecting to the water line. Road Department: The Summit County Engineer`s Office has stated that the Akron-Cleveland Road improvement project will begin in the late spring/early summer period and will be completed in 2023. The project is slated to cost $875,000 with $700,000 coming from federal funds. Two-way traffic is to be maintained at all times.

Zoning Updates: Both the Zoning Commission and the township trustees conducted public hearings on the amendments to the zoning resolution regarding the sign chapter and other minor changes to definitions. Both boards approved the changes. Once the changes are collated into the original text, the revised ordinance will be posted to the township website. The Zoning Commission is continuing to review the provisions in the zoning resolution regarding Home Occupations.

Boston Township/Peninsula JEDD: The annual meeting of the Boston Township/Peninsula JEDD was held on March 8. It was announced that in 2022 the JEDD brought in $166,712. With the agreed upon 70/30 split, Boston Township received $113,205 and Peninsula received $48,516.
